Product Description

A delightful CD about the most interesting continent of Australia!  Some extaordinary didgeridoo playing by DON PORTELANCE.  Gary Q and I had a ball with this one. Has become a favourite. Inspired by Anise Abdulla and the children at SUNNYGATE MONTESSORI School. Wonderful unit to do with the class.

Tracks:

DISCOVERING AUSTRALIA:(Gary Huntbatch) A fun song about Captain Cook. His ship was called the ENDEAVOR, ‘And Ever’ did it leak.  EEK! Plus, he was lost.

THE AUSTRALIAN CLOCK: (Yurgen Ilaender) Imagine Australia as a clock. This songs teaches the names of the main cities of Australia by telling time.

LITTLE JOHNNY ENGLAND: (New lyrics by Anise Abdulla) A traditional Australian folk melody with added words that teach the names of the Territories, and more. Watch out for that boomerang, Gary!

BOWERBIRD: (Mr. I) This crazy bird does crazy things. Crazy sax solo in this song.

KOOKABURRA – Traditional Australian song sung in a round.

MARSUPIAL LAND (Gary Huntbatch) Great song about marsupials. We get to hear Gary’s wonderful singing voice.

KANGAROO JUMP (Mr. I) Hang on to your Australian Hat, we’re jumping!

I’M A ROO (Gary Huntbatch) Great song with lots of facts about kangaroos.

DINGO DOG (Yurgen Ilaender) Short, silly poem to introduce the dingo dog. Is it true that they can’t bark?

KARLA KOALA (Gary Huntbatch) Karla is interviewed and tells everyone she is NOT a bear.

I’M A KOALA (Mr. I) Fun little song about Koalas.

BAOBAB TREE: (Yurgen Ilaender) Such interesting trees in Australia. This song mentions some of them. Great hit in the class.

ABORIGINEES USED THE BOOMERANG (Yurgen Ilaender) Day in the life of an aboriginee and his dog.

ULURU/ AYER’S ROCK: (Yurgen Ilaender) Majestic song for the spiritual center of this fascinating continent. Will visit one day.

NUMALU: DIDGE STORY BY DON PORTELANCE Story by Don about what a young aboriginee must do to become a man. Great effects played on the didge. Entertaining and educational.

DIDGERIDOO SONG (Yurgen Ilaender) Mr. I tries to teach Gary how to play the didgeridoo. This was a mistake!

DESERT POEM (Gary Huntbatch) We wanted a poem to describe the hot deserts of Australia. All Gary could think of was ice cream.

WALTZING MATILDA: (Traditional) I think you know this one. Some verses are sung in aboriginal language.

DEADLY LAND OF OZ: (Gary Huntbatch) Eek! Are there really that many dangerous creatures in Australia?

THE GREAT BARRIER REEF: Lovely, ocean-wave-bouncy song that teaches many facts about the Great Barrier Reef. Don’t worry, Gary, there are no spiders in the ocean. Or are there?
