NEWS!
Mr. I MUSIC NOTE July, 2010
HELLO
Happy Summertime! Yes, great to feel the warmth of the sun once again.
And also great to have some time off now to work on new projects that
are bubbling to burst out. I just finished two weeks teaching Summer camps
at Place des Arts. The children are so happy, so excited. It was great
fun! It reminded me that the Summer is for fun and friendship building.
FREE SONG ; LET'S BE FRIENDS : So your FREE SONG this week is 'LET'S
BE FRIENDS'. Just email me back and add 'FREE SONG' in the header and
I will send you an mp3 for free.
PEACE AND FRIENDSHIP : Gary Q and I are working on a new CD called PEACE
AND FRIENDSHIP and hope to have it out by the end of August.
Along with the theme of friendship and community there are open concerts
every Monday night in Vancouver led by Brock Tully. He is the one who
started the ACTS OF KINDNESS program that goes around to different elementary
schools through North America. The Monday evening concert series goes
through the Sumer in Vancouver. Check out www.oneofakindstories.com

MUSIC ACTIVITY: TREBLE CLEF - BASS CLEF GAME: Here is a fun game for
the children who are a little bit older. I've included this again in case
you didn't get a chance to play it last time. In the trial version you
can play for free and learn the first five notes of the treble clef. The
full version you need to pay for. But the trial version is quite a challenge
(well, for me anyway) It's called HAPPY NOTE

MUSIC THEORY GAMES: Here is quite a comprehensive package of music games
at a fairly good price. Perhaps you are looking for things for the kids
to do during the Summer at home on rainy days. http://www.funmusicco.com/printable-music-games/?gclid=CKvvitq-9aICFQ4MbAod_G7Biw

I have collected over the years. I especially like the last one! Hee Hee.

"There's something romantic about being Canadian. We're a relatively
unpopulated, somewhat civilized and clean and resourceful country. I always
push the fact that I'm Canadian."

and wisdom. Compiled by Cori Howard New York : Nine Publishing, 2004 Pg

leave Canada. This is my home and I got to be everything I am right here.

of the natural ego-trippers of other lands."

Sir Winston Churchill
"Canadians have been so busy explaining to the Americans that we
aren't British, and to the British that we aren't Americans that we haven't
had time to become Canadians."
Helen Gordon McPherson
"When I'm in Canada, I feel this is what the world should be like."
Jane Fonda
"Canada is like an old cow. The West feeds it. Ontario and Quebec
milk it. And you can well imagine what it's doing in the Maritimes."

PAST STUDENTS: Will try to keep in touch with the singers
and past students. It is so great to hear about what they do as they get
older. Went to a social function last week. A man came up to me and said,
"You probably don't remember me or my son. But, he went through your
program back in the mid-eighties. You did something right, he was motivated
to keep studying music and is now a sound engineer at Brian Adams' studio
in Vancouver." I love hearing these stories. I should somehow keep
track and keep a record. If you have more, please send them to me.
Wishing everyone peace
in their hearts, joy in their lives.
PICS
FROM KIDS. Send a musical drawing for Mr. I to scan and put on the
website. I find these quite uplifting.

PEACE: It is
apparent that the world needs more peace songs. Please keep peace in your
heart during these tense times. The new Mr. I CD in planning stages requires
more peace songs. If you have ideas you would like to contribute please
let me know.
