SOUTH AMERICAN COUNTRIES
(Gary Huntbatch, May 2001)
VENEZUELA, IS AT THE TOP,
STRAIGHT THROUGH TO GUYANA, WE DON'T HAVE TO STOP.
THE VERY NEXT COUNTRY, IS SURINAME
AND THEN FRENCH GUYANA, WHERE IT'S ALWAYS NICE AND WARM
THEN WE'RE IN BRAZIL, WHERE IT'S HOT LIKE TOAST
IT'S THE LARGEST COUNTRY, YOU COULD SAY THAT IT'S THE MOST
CLOSE TO THE MIDDLE, IS PARAGUAY
WITH URUGUAY ON THE EAST COAST, NOT TOO FAR AWAY
(count to ten in Spanish: UNO, DOS, TRES, QUATRO, CINCO, SEIS,
SIETE, OCHO, NUEVE, DIEZ)
THE NEXT LARGEST COUNTRY, IS ARGENTINA,
WITH NARROW CHILE OH SO CLOSE, NOTHING'S IN BETWEENA'
COMING BACK UP, BOLIVIA IS NEXT,
THEN PASSING THROUGH PERU, WAY OUT TO THE WEST
NOW LET'S EXPLORE, EQUADOR,
AND THE MOUNTAINS OF COLUMBIA, WITH THE COFFEE WE ADORE
NOW THAT YOU MENTION COFFEE, IT MUST BE TIME FOR TEA
IN THE BRITISH FALKLAND ISLANDS, 'GADZOOKS' WAIT FOR ME!
Twinkle In Spanish (Red & Yellow)
Estrellita, ¿dónde estás?
Me pregunto qué serás.
En el cielo y en el mar,
Un diamante de verdad.
Estrellita, ¿dónde estás?
Me pregunto qué serás.

IT'S EARLY MORNING IN THE RAIN FOREST
ALL THE ANIMALS ARE WAKING UP
THE PARROTS ARE SINGING IN A RAUCOUS CHORUS
HEAR THEM IN THE CANOPY UP ON TOP
THE MONKEYS JUMP FROM TREE TO TREE
SWINGING FROM THE BRANCHES HAPPILY
THE MONKEYS SHOUT WITH A WHOOP AND A HOWL
TELLING ALL THE BIRDS THEY'RE MUCH TOO LOUD
Spoken by narrator
THE MONKEYS ARE HOWLING AT THE PARROTS & THE TOUCANS
THE PARROTS AND THE TOUCANS ALL SUDDENLY FLY INTO THE AIR
THEN THE RAIN BEGINS TO FALL.
Blue class only:
IT'S MID-AFTERNOON IN THE RAIN FOREST
SEE THE FLYING LIZARDS AND THE FLYING FROGS
THE FROGS ARE CROAKING IN A RAUCOUS CHORUS
THEY JUMP THROUGH THE UNDERSTORY CHASING ALL THE BUGS
A TREE FROG LAYS IT'S LITTLE EGGS
ON THE LEAVES OF A BROMELAID
A POISON DART FROG , BLUE NOT GREEN
HIDES ON THE FOREST FLOOR, BARELY SEEN
Spoken by narrator
THE FROGS ARE CROAKING LOUDLY, SUDDENLY THEY STOP
A HERD OF AL PACAS COME GALLOPING PAST
THE RAIN CONTINUES TO FALL

IT'S LATE IN THE EVENING IN THE RAIN FOREST
ALL THE BATS ARE WAKING UP
THEY RUSTLE AND THEY FLUTTER IN A RAUCOUS CHORUS

A BOA COILS AROUND A BRANCH
CONTENTEDLY FILLED WITH IT'S PREY
AN ANACONDA SLITHERS DOWN
TIME TO END ANOTHER DAY,.
Spokenby narrator:
The snakes are hissing a soft goodnight
The bats are flitting up through the leaves
The rain still falls. , And then. - it stops. All is silent

RAIN FOREST, RAIN FOREST
PIECES OF A PUZZLE ALL FIT PERFECTLY
RAIN FOREST, RAIN FOREST,
GOODNIGHT TO THE ANIMALS, GOODNIGHT TO THE TREES.
THE TWO-TOED SLOTH (Mr. I)
THE TWO TOED SLOTH LIVES IN THE TREES
HIGH HIGH HIGH, WHERE NOBODY SEES
THE TWO TOED SLOTH IS VERY CUTE
HANGS UPSIDE DOWN AND LIKES TO EAT FRUIT
COME LOOK YOU CAN SEE HIM, IF YOU LOOK VERY CAREFULLY
THE GREEN ALGAE IN HIS FUR, MAKES HIM VERY HARD TO SEE
THE TWO TOED SLOTH LIVES IN THE TREES
HIGH HIGH HIGH, WHERE NOBODY SEES
(clap hands three times at end)
HUMMINGBIRD (Yurgen Ilaender)
HUMMINGBIRD, HUMMINGBIRD, I CAN'T SEE YOU
BUT I KNOW YOU'RE THERE IN THE TREES SOMEWHERE
HUMMINGBIRD, HUMMINGBIRD, TOO FAST FOR MY EYE

YOU'RE A JEWEL IN THE SKY,
PRECIOUS AND PERFECT IN EVERY WAY
YOU'RE A JEWEL IN THE SKY
HOPE THAT I CAN SEE YOU TODAY.

As I walked out on Laredo one day
I spied a young cowboy all wrapped in white linen.
All wrapped in white linen and cold as the clay.
OLD CHISHOLM TRAIL
(Traditional Cowboy Song)
Here's a western song that no western tunesmith's, like the COWPIE gang
should be without. "The old Chisholm Trail" is believed to have had
at least 143 verses sung at one time or another. Micheal Martin
Murphey's "Cowboy Songs" includes a few more, but I only know 11.
So grab yer slicker and cinch yer saddle and let's go---! (Andrew)
1.Well, come along, friends, and listen to my tale;
I'll tell you 'bout my troubles on the old Chisholm Trail. (Chorus)
2 I woke up one mornin' on the old Chisholm trail
With a rope in my hand and a cow by the tail (chorus)
3.On a ten-dollar horse and a forty-dollar saddle,
I'm a ridin' and a punchin' them Texas cattle.
(chorus)
Com a ti yi yippy, yippy yay, yippy yay,
Come a ti yi yippy, yippy yay.
4. I'm up in the morning before daylight;
and Before I sleep the moon shines bright.
5. Oh, it's bacon and beans most every day;
I'd as soon be eating that prairie hay.
6. Oh, it's cloudy in the west and a'lookin' like rain
But I left my slickers in the wagon again.
7. I went to the boss to draw my roll,
he had me figured out nine dollars in the hole.
8. So, I sold my horse, and hung up my saddle,
And I bid farewell to them Longhorn cattle.

CANADA IN MY POCKET
(Green, Blue & Purple pick any verse. They are to bring their own coins
pictures and stand to sing their chose verse)
Michael Mitchell
Chorus: I've got Canada in my pocket. A little bit of history.
A penny and a nickel and a quarter and a dime
mean a lot to you and me.
It's more than pocket money. They're the symbols of our land.
they're pictures of important things for which this country stands.
The maple leaf, the maple leaf, It's a beautiful sight to see.
It waves, 'Hello' to us below from the top of a maple tree.
and with every year that passes. It grows like you and me.
So, should we all grow straight and tall like the lovely maple tree.
The beaver, oh the beaver, It's a beautiful sight to see.
He's a happy, furry animal like a teddy bear with teeth.
He's never ever lazy. He works all night and day.
Building houses for his family. He's got no time to play.
Chorus
The schooner, oh the schooner. It's a beautiful sight to see.
It's a great big wooden sailing ship that can sail across the sea.
And it brings to other countries, the things that people need
And it brings back things like chocolate bars and books for us to read.
The caribou the caribou, it's a beautiful sight to see
He's a really big strong animal I'm sure you'll all agree.
He looks like Santa's reindeer. And he loves it when the wind blows cold.
So he lives up north with the polar bears, cause he likes the ice and snow.
Chorus.

THE NORTHERN LIGHTS
The moon is out the stars are bright.
It's quiet on this Winter's night.
And in the sky so cold and clear
The Northern Lights start to appear.
Red Lights sparkle (and through all colours)
These are the colours of the Northern Lights.
But when the sun pokes out it's head
The Northern Lights all go to bed.
(when Mr. I counts to three say 'BOO')
HOCKEY SONG (Stompin' Tom Conners)
Hello out there. We're on the ar. It's hockey night tonight.
Tension grows. The whistle blows. And the puck goes down the ice.
The goalie jumps, and the players bump. And the fans all go insane.
Someone roars, "Bobby scores!" at the good old hockey game.
Chorus:
Oh, the good ol' hockey game. It's the best game you can name
And the best game you can name is the good ol' hockey game.
(2nd period)
Where players dash with skates a-flash. The home team falls behind.
But they grab the puck and go bursting up and their down across the line.
They storm the crease like bumblebees. They travel like a burning flame.
We see them slide the puck inside. It's a one-one hockey game
Chorus
(3rd period, Last game of the play-offs too)
Oh, take me where the hockey players face off down the rink.
And the Stanley Cup is all filled up for the champs who win the drink.
Now, the final flick of a hockey stick and a-one gigantic scream.
The puck is in. The home team wins. The good old hockey game.
Chorus (3 times)
HE SHOOTS HE SCORES!
MAGIC PENNY
Love is something if you give it away, give it away, give it away.
Love is something if you give it away. You'lll end up having more. .
It's just like a magic penny. Hold it tight and you won't have any.
But, lend it, spend it and you'll have so many, They'll roll all over the floor,
for
Love is something if you give it away, give it away, give it away.
Love is something if you give it away , you'll end up having more.
