YELLOW LEVEL

The children have started their note writing sheets. We will build on these and also add more melody charts as we go. Please make sure to POINT AT THE RYTHMS each day, sing the song words and clap the rhythm.

GREEN LEVEL

The Green students will start now learn to read and write music upon the staff starting with G pentatonic scale notes.

RECORDER: (3 times each day)
Play new song three times every day!

STEMS: are the lines to the side of the dots on the music staff: They are essentially the 'ta's and the 'tee tee's, the rhythm names we learned in yellow class.
STEM RULE: if the dot is higher than the middle line, then the stem goes down to the left of the dot. And opposite for if a note is below the middle line. If a note is on the middle line, the stem can go either way, doesn't matter.

'doh' on staff
If 's' is on a line, 'mi' is on the line underneath and 'doh' is on the next line underneath. There three notes are called a 'TRIAD'. They always have the same positioning in relation to each other, no matter which note 'doh' is on.

BLUE LEVEL

The Blue students will now learn to write music in G major. By Spring Break we will complete the G major scale and include the F#, adding to knowledge of accidentals in music.

They will also learn to play in the key o f G major on the recorder.
